Tuiran tori - Healthy food market of Tuira
Tuiran koulus 2—3B class studied healthy food through Finnish nature products. First pupils took closer look to the vegetables, berries, fruits and herbs. Pupils learned to identify them through different kind of games like memo or fastest can get the point. Pupils also sing the songs about vegetables and berries.
After getting to know vegetables, berries, fruits and herbs by name pupils had opportunity to taste these delicious delicacies. Pupils tasted for example berries with their eyes shut and tried to recognize them. Everybody got the feelings of success and they really enjoyed it a lot.
After tasting pupils had a chance to bake apple and rhubarb pie in the school. Everybody participate in small groups. Pupils made the dough, cut the apples and rhubarbs and put them into oven. When the pies were ready we had a pie parties. It was delicious!
Pupils also worked with their long-term project where they made their own marketplace tables. Everybody chose two vegetables, berries or fruits. They searched information about them from books and internet. Based on gathered knowledge they wrote an info text about their products. They also prepared their products from the materials they chose. Someone made it with paper, the other one from fabric. They designed those products by themselves and made them. Those market place tables and products are yummy!
